The slow'n'steady build up of Old Git numbers continues. Last night, Dave was back, John was a bit late (his head full of County Council gobbledegook), and Ian, Tod, Dan and Charlie made up the six.
New drummer Ian continued to impress, with a winning combination of natural talent and what has obviouly been a lot of time on one of those new fangled ipod thingies.
Very sad news that jodhpur-based gig is off (was it something I said?), but other gigs are firming up nicely. (I know the feeling ooo err)
The good people at Farmers' Weekly are still looking for a band to play at their annual awards ceremony ( http://www.fwi.co.uk/awards-website/awards-home/ ) and they are keen to come down and hear us in action. Could be a real big one. (Ooo err, again).
Right, that's enough double entendres. (Girl walked into a bar, and asked the barman for a double entendre. So he gave her one.)

All those drummers.
After many, many hours of research by historians based at the prestigious University of Central Hampshire (previously known as Cheriton Primary School), the definitive list of stickmen has been posted, under 'Drum Roll'.

News: rehearsals, gigs and drummers
It's all go.
There were five in Shed 3b on Monday. Anthony standing in for Dave again, Tod and Charlie in as usual (Charlie showing off another huge organ fnarr fnarr), John back from the States, looking a trifle jaded after drinking Business Class dry. Hot news was new drummer Ian, who emerged from the murky depths of Tod's 1998 address book waving some sticks, and fitted in fantastically at once. There was a magnificent Honky Tonk Women moment.
Welcome along Ian - let's hope you stick with us (geddit?).
Gig news. There's a jodhpur-based one (mmmm, nice) coming up very soon - VERY soon; Kilmeston have asked us back (although their first suggested date is not very Hunnisett-friendly). The Property Manager at Hinton Ampner House has asked us to provide music for the National Trust's Open Day in early July (I told him we weren't sure about travelling such huge distances) , and Charlie's niece has said a 90% 'yes' for us to play at her wedding in August. We'll be needing some ABBA for that last one, I'm afraid.
As young people say, it's all kicking off again.
Hurrah.

Backing Singers
If we really are looking for backing singers/dancers, I wonder if these two delightful ladies (and their unorthodox ponytails) would be available?

Monday's rehearsal - and then there were four.....
Ah, the lure of the greasepaint, the cheers of the audience, the glare of the lights, the stagedoor johnies, actors who know the words - but not necessarily in the right order....who can resist amateur dramatics? Not Smooth Charlie, obviously, who has somewhat inconveniently ruled himself out of Monday night band practices in favour of a weekly thesp. So he wasn't there.
And then there's New York. I mean, what on earth has the vast, vibrant, cosmopolitan metropolis of NY got that our miserable little hamlet (pop. 40) hasn't, eh? Ok, no-one's written a song about HA yet, although "Sweet Home Hinton Ampner" would scan. Whatever it is, it has claimed our father and daughter vocal team.
And as for Brighton - well, no one does cheap'n'easy screws like the Brighton branch of Screwfix.
The upshot of all this is that on Monday the Old Gits were reduced to a slightly melancholy four piece in Shed 3b. Still, we made the most our time, hammering one of Mr Cocker's finest until it begged for forgiveness.
Huge gig - in Shed 19f - 20th August is a possibility. Assuming there's still enough of us left by then.

Hot News - CD sales soaring
Hazel met someone in Cheriton shop today who said he knew someone who had bought a copy of our CD, and very good it was, too.
This comes as a bit of a surprise, as we didn't know we'd done a CD. There isn't a bootleg of one of our gigs doing the rounds, is there?

Still no rehearsals
Once again, we've failed to get together for any rehearsals - something to do with half the band being not in these parts. One is still in NY (due to be joined by her father), one is in Brighton and one is in the Maldives topping up the tan.
