Monday's rehearsal
Another relatively uneventful and remarkably purposeful get-together on Monday. Smooth Charlie on fine form, picking up the TLOGS idiosyncratic approach to many songs astonishingly quickly.
Dave still unable to make it, stand-in Anthony left his bass at school, so he was unable to join in the undignified Boddington's frenzy.
This week's musical debate centred on how many beats there are in the opening riff to the opening song. Some said five, some said six, some said "What's a beat?" Some said "Another Boddington's? Don't mind if I do!" But that's enough about John.
A couple more possible gigs were added to the 'Where/When Tour 2011' (previously and quite unfairly known as the Small Pianist's Tour 2011). The 'Where? When?' name comes from the somewhat incredulous reaction to a typical booking ("Everyone OK for the Devon Freemasons' Annual Handshake Ball at the Exeter Hippodrome on 15th August?...."). But, hey we're artists. We'll go anywhere, anytime. Possibly.

Last Night's Rehearsal
Nice to be back in the swing of things.
TLOGS line-up number 372d assembled in Shed 3B last night for the first rehearsal of the new year. 'Smooth Charlie' was back on drums, Dave couldn't make it (Rugged Anthony standing in admirably for him, bravely resisting offers of lager until he realised that he ought to get one in before John polished off the lot), and Jess is off ploughing new furrows in the metrosexual metropolis that is Brighton.
However, we had a very constructive evening, running through a fair proportion of the set - backwards, for some reason - and discussing a series of probable (and one or two quite improbable) gigs.
There was a thoroughly intellectual and enjoyable music theory session, discussing the merits of the multitude of songs based on the Circle of Fourths, until someone said "What's a fourth?"
There was a considerable less intellectual and frankly rather childish oo-er missis fnarr fnarr conversation about....I think it was about Smooth Charlie's drum stool, but quite honestly I can't remember. It was funny at the time.
